Project Spotlight

Mecca,

Albert Park.

For project Mecca (Albert Park), Resair was tasked with a Design & Construct Package to deliver a custom air conditioning and ventilation system that met strict performance standards and aligned with the high visual expectations of the client's architect. The project demanded a delicate balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal, particularly because the architect envisioned an exposed ductwork design that would serve as both a practical and visual element in the space. This project restricted our mechanical equipment to work within the amperage load limits provided. To meet these requirements, our team collaborated closely with engineers and fabricators to create a bespoke solution that would integrate seamlessly into the architectural design vision.

One of the primary challenges was that standard materials fell short of the architect's stringent design criteria. This led us to develop custom ductwork that was both functional and visually appealing. The exposed ducts had to blend into the interior design while maintaining optimal performance. Additionally, the return air grilles needed to be strategically concealed from public view, which required innovative engineering solutions. Custom diffusers were meticulously rendered into the walls to ensure they were unobtrusive yet effective, enhancing the overall aesthetic without compromising on the system's efficiency.

A particularly complex aspect of the project involved engineering a custom T-piece that was partially concealed within the ceiling and partially exposed. The architect required rounded edges and a shadow-line for this component, a design that necessitated precise engineering, fabrication and installation. Working closely with both the engineer and fabricators, Resair was able to deliver a T-piece that not only met the architect's specified visual standards but also adhered to the engineered airflow requirements. This successful collaboration resulted in a fully customized HVAC system that perfectly balanced technical requirements with the client’s architectural vision.
